Senior Hydrogeologist – Water Management (Simandou Project)

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Hydrogeologist to join Rio Tinto’s Water Management team on the Simandou iron‑ore project in Guinea. The role provides technical leadership for groundwater management, ensuring data quality and supporting operational, environmental and regulatory decisions.

Key responsibilities

• Lead collection, management, quality assurance and reporting of groundwater monitoring data.
• Analyse and interpret data to identify trends, risks and opportunities for groundwater management.
• Support hydrogeological investigations, drilling activities and aquifer testing.
• Contribute to groundwater management plans, performance monitoring and regulatory reporting.
• Mentor team members and collaborate across multidisciplinary teams.

Required profile

• Degree in Hydrogeology, Geology, Geoscience, Engineering, Environmental Science or related discipline.
• Experience managing and visualising groundwater data using systems such as MonitorPro.
• Strong field experience with drilling, installation of standpipes and Vibrating Wire Piezometers, and aquifer testing.
• Ability to analyse data, identify trends and communicate findings through technical reports.
• Excellent communication, problem‑solving and stakeholder‑engagement skills.
• French language skills are advantageous and a valid driver’s licence is required.
