Maintenance Planning Superintendent

About the role

Rio Tinto is seeking a Maintenance Planning Superintendent to lead the development and execution of maintenance planning activities for the SimFer iron‑ore mine in Guinea. This two‑year fixed‑term FIFO position will support safe, efficient and reliable mine operations while contributing to the broader economic development of the region.

Key responsibilities

• Build and sustain a strong safety culture, ensuring all maintenance work complies with legislation and Rio Tinto HSE standards.
• Lead the design, implementation and continuous improvement of maintenance planning systems that align with the site’s overall planning framework.
• Develop detailed maintenance plans and equipment strategies to support safe and efficient mine development.
• Provide functional leadership, coaching and capability development for the maintenance planning team.
• Drive the application of Zero‑Based Budgeting processes across maintenance activities.

Required profile

• University degree in mechanical or electrical engineering, maintenance management, or equivalent practical experience.
• Proven experience leading maintenance planning and scheduling teams in an industrial or mining environment.
• Demonstrated ability to work in a FIFO setting and manage multi‑disciplinary teams.
