Accountant - Manufacturing

About the role

Careers International is hiring a full-time Accountant in Conakry to manage day-to-day accounting operations, maintain financial records, support month-end closing and ensure compliance with internal financial policies and statutory requirements. The role works closely with internal departments and covers manufacturing finance, costing, inventory and accounts payable and receivable.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain accurate books of accounts and record daily transactions, including purchase, sales, receipts, payments and journal entries, and account for manufacturing expenses and overheads.
• Assist in product costing (raw material, labour, overheads), analyse production costs, support standard costing and variance analysis, track cost per unit and support pricing decisions.
• Maintain inventory records with stores and warehouse, reconcile physical stock with system records, monitor raw material consumption, WIP and finished goods valuation, and assist in stock audits and cycle counts.
• Process supplier invoices, ensure timely vendor payments, monitor customer receivables, follow up on collections and maintain aging reports for payables and receivables.
• Prepare monthly MIS reports including production cost reports and financial summaries, and assist in preparing the profit and loss account and balance sheet.
• Assist in annual budgeting and production cost planning, track budget versus actual expenses and help control manufacturing overheads.
• Ensure compliance with accounting standards and internal controls, support internal and external audits and keep audit-ready documentation.
• Coordinate with Production, Stores, Purchase and HR departments to verify material usage, purchase orders and job work records.

Required profile

• Bachelor of Commerce or Master of Commerce in Accounting, Finance or Commerce.
• Minimum 4 to 6 years of solid experience, specifically in the manufacturing sector.
• Prior professional experience in Africa is a significant advantage.
• Immediate availability to start work without a notice period.

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of cost accounting and inventory management.
• Proficiency in MS Excel and accounting software; ERP, Tally and SAP preferred.
• Understanding of manufacturing processes and cost structures.
• Analytical and reporting skills, with attention to detail and accuracy.
