Biodiversity & PA Management Expert – Monitoring & Evaluation

About the role

The Biodiversity & Protected Area Management Expert will support the Project Coordinator and the Head of the Guinea Office in delivering conservation, environmental governance and monitoring & evaluation activities across Guinea, Liberia and Côte d’Ivoire. The role combines technical leadership on biodiversity conservation with the design and implementation of a robust M&E system to track project performance.

Key responsibilities

• Provide technical support for sustainable land management, ecosystem restoration and protected‑area management actions.
• Coordinate with implementing partners, research institutes and service providers on habitat mapping, ecological studies and species monitoring.
• Strengthen the status and delimitation of protected areas, oversee IMET assessments and support value‑chain improvements.
• Develop, implement and maintain a comprehensive Monitoring & Evaluation system, including data collection, analysis and reporting.
• Ensure project planning, operational budgeting and documentation of technical and financial performance.
• Promote participatory governance of landscapes, integrating gender and youth dimensions.

Required profile

• Demonstrated expertise in biodiversity conservation, protected‑area management and ecological monitoring.
• Experience designing and operating Monitoring & Evaluation frameworks for multi‑country projects.
• Ability to work closely with partners, communities and government agencies.
• Strong understanding of environmental standards and social‑gender considerations.
