Independent Development Consultant

About the role

The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Guinea seeks an Independent Development Consultant to provide technical and advisory support on a defined project or thematic area. The consultant will work on‑site, delivering high‑quality analysis, design inputs, and reporting to help UNDP achieve its development objectives.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct research, data collection, and analysis to inform project design and implementation.
• Support the preparation of implementation plans, reports, briefs, and presentations for internal and external stakeholders.
• Facilitate meetings, workshops, and stakeholder consultations with government, civil society, and development partners.
• Ensure project activities align with UNDP standards and national priorities, providing regular progress updates to the supervising unit.
• Undertake field visits across Guinea and maintain high ethical and professional standards throughout the assignment.

Required profile

• Strong analytical, research, and report‑writing abilities with a track record of turning complex information into actionable recommendations.
• Proven experience in project or programme management, including planning, implementation support, monitoring, and documentation.
• Excellent communication and facilitation skills, able to engage constructively with government institutions, civil society, and international partners.
• University degree (Master’s preferred) in development studies, public policy, economics, environmental studies, or a related discipline.
• Fluency in French and good working knowledge of English; knowledge of local Guinean languages is an asset.
