Remote Medical Coder – Hospital Coding Specialist

About the role

We are seeking a highly meticulous and experienced Remote Medical Coder to join our dynamic healthcare team. The role involves reviewing complex patient records, assigning accurate diagnostic and procedural codes, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements to support proper reimbursement.

Key responsibilities

• Review and analyze patient medical records, including operative reports, discharge summaries, and outpatient notes.
• Assign appropriate ICD-10-CM, CPT, HCPCS, ICD-10, OPCS-4, and SNOMED CT codes.
• Ensure coding complies with federal, state, NHS, and payer-specific guidelines.
• Identify documentation gaps, query physicians, and resolve coding errors.
• Optimize reimbursement by correcting coding issues and addressing claim denials.
• Maintain data integrity and participate in coding audits.
• Stay current with coding guideline updates and regulatory changes.

Required profile

• 3–5 years of hospital medical coding experience (inpatient or outpatient) in the US or UK.
• Active certification from AAPC or AHIMA (CPC, CCS, CIC, COC) or equivalent UK certification.
• Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and pharmacology.
• Proficient with EHR systems such as Epic, Cerner, EMIS Web, or SystmOne.
• Reliable computer (Windows 10/11 or macOS 12+) and high-speed internet connection.
• Dedicated, quiet, HIPAA/GDPR-compliant workspace with backup power supply.
