Superintendent Mine Water Management

About the role

Rio Tinto is seeking an experienced Water Management Superintendent to lead safe and efficient water management activities across the Simandou operation in Guinea. Reporting to the Manager Mine Services, you will oversee a team of supervisors, operators and contractors delivering dewatering, water supply, surface water control and related civil works.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and manage Water Management Supervisors, operators and contractor teams with a strong field presence.
• Oversee pit dewatering systems, borefields, pumps, pipelines and water storage infrastructure.
• Ensure reliable water supply for mining, construction and operational activities.
• Manage surface water runoff, diversion and sediment control measures.
• Support road maintenance, drainage and earthworks across the operation.
• Monitor water‑related operational risks and wet‑season preparedness.
• Manage contractor performance, budgets, forecasts and work scopes.
• Develop and implement water management plans, drive continuous improvement in safety, reliability and cost performance.

Required profile

• Significant experience in mine water management, dewatering or related civil infrastructure.
• Proven leadership at Superintendent or Senior Supervisor level.
• Experience managing large‑scale pumping systems, pipelines and water infrastructure in remote mining environments.
• Strong understanding of risk management, safety systems and operational compliance.
• Ability to work with multicultural teams and develop national workforce capability.
