Technical Field Service & Advising Specialist (FIFO)

About the role

Wabtec is seeking a Technical Field Service and Advising Specialist to support locomotive maintenance on a FIFO basis in Guinea, near the port of Morebaya. The role involves providing technical guidance to subcontracted maintenance teams, ensuring safe and timely locomotive servicing, and driving performance improvements.

Key responsibilities

• Respond to planned and unplanned maintenance requests, offering troubleshooting, failure analysis, and field modification oversight.
• Provide training and assistance to customers and subcontractors on product maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair in line with Wabtec Maintenance Instructions.
• Maintain accurate updates in the Maintenance Management System during each shift.
• Track and forecast material and consumable usage, ensuring Just‑In‑Time delivery.
• Monitor product performance metrics and recommend continuous improvement actions.
• Coordinate implementation of field modifications and evaluate their effectiveness.
• Collaborate with Wabtec teams worldwide on technical issues, product development, and training.
• Participate in internal and external reporting, ensuring timely resolution of customer issues and high satisfaction.

Required profile

• Minimum of 5 years experience in a customer‑facing locomotive service role, preferably with Wabtec locomotives.
• L1 Locomotive Technical Training certification.
• Willingness and ability to work in a shop environment on rotating FIFO schedules (60 days on, 15 days off).
• Understanding of Wabtec maintenance and material management processes.
• Strong leadership and interpersonal skills.
