About the role

Rio Tinto is seeking two Mining Engineers for its Canga site in Guinea. The engineers will deliver short‑term mine designs, drilling and blasting plans, and daily/weekly mine schedules while supporting development activities that optimise safe and efficient production. The position offers a direct impact on site performance within a fast‑moving, collaborative environment.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement short‑ and medium‑term pit and waste dump designs in line with Rio Tinto standards.
• Prepare drilling and blasting designs, including explosives forecasting and blast sequencing.
• Produce daily and weekly mine plans and coordinate schedules with all stakeholders.
• Manage water control, rehabilitation and development works to ensure environmental compliance.
• Communicate design options and plans to operational teams to guarantee safe execution.

Required profile

• Degree in Mining Engineering or a related field.
• Proven experience in mine design, drilling and blasting, and water management.
• Ability to coordinate activities with multidisciplinary teams and meet project milestones.
• Strong analytical skills and attention to safety and environmental standards.

Required skills

• Mine pit and waste dump design.
• Drilling and blasting design, including explosives forecasting.
• Water management and rehabilitation planning.
• Familiarity with Rio Tinto engineering standards.
