General Manager – Technical

About the role

We are seeking a General Manager – Technical to lead the technical strategy for safe, reliable and efficient operations at our Simfer and Simandou projects in Guinea. Reporting to the COO, you will join the senior leadership team and be responsible for asset management, engineering, sustaining capital, contractor management and business improvement across a multicultural, site‑based environment.

Key responsibilities

• Define and execute the technical services strategy aligned with business and operational priorities.
• Provide visible safety leadership and strengthen technical governance, engineering assurance and asset integrity.
• Lead multidisciplinary teams in Asset Management, Engineering, Sustaining Capital, Contractor Management Excellence and Business Improvement.
• Establish asset management strategies that improve reliability, availability and lifecycle performance.
• Govern engineering standards, technical risk management and the planning, prioritisation and delivery of sustaining capital programmes.
• Drive productivity, operational efficiency, asset optimisation and value creation through disciplined improvement initiatives.

Required profile

• Proven senior leadership experience in technical or engineering functions within large‑scale industrial or mining operations.
• Strong track record of managing multidisciplinary teams and delivering technical governance.
• Excellent understanding of asset management, engineering standards and sustaining capital programmes.
• Ability to operate effectively in a complex, multicultural environment and on a rostered on‑site schedule.
