Material Manager Guinea

About the role

The Material Manager will lead warehouse operations at the customer facility in Guinea, ensuring that all material‑related activities support locomotive maintenance projects. This FIFO position operates on a 60‑day on / 15‑day off schedule and includes accommodation and transport provisions.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain accurate material forecasts based on project schedules, repair plans and historical data.
• Oversee inventory control, set reorder points, safety stock levels and conduct regular audits and cycle counts.
• Manage day‑to‑day warehouse functions including receiving, storage, picking, packing and shipping.
• Coordinate logistics and customs clearance for material movement between Guinea, the USA, India and South Africa.
• Lead a team of Material Specialists, providing coaching, task assignment and performance feedback.
• Identify cost‑saving opportunities and drive continuous process improvements.

Required profile

• Proven experience in material planning, inventory management and warehouse operations.
• Strong knowledge of logistics and supply‑chain processes, including customs procedures.
• Demonstrated ability to lead and develop a team in a 24/7 operational environment.
• Excellent analytical skills to monitor market trends and optimize material strategies.

Required skills

• Oracle (MRP) system proficiency
