About the role
The Media and Communications Officer will support IOM’s internal and external communication activities in Conakry, focusing on raising awareness about voluntary return of migrants and sharing their stories with media, the public and IOM staff.
Key responsibilities
- Assist in planning, drafting and producing communication outputs, including press releases, articles and social media content in English and French.
- Coordinate with Programme/Project Managers, the Media and Communications Unit in Dakar and the division in Geneva to ensure consistent messaging.
- Gather and edit stories of returned migrants for dissemination to communities, media outlets and internal audiences.
Required profile
- Master’s degree in Mass Communication, Journalism, Public Information or a related field (or equivalent with four years experience).
- At least two years of professional experience in media and communications, preferably in international or crisis contexts.
- Proven ability to work independently, multitask, prioritize tasks and meet tight deadlines.
Required skills
- Strong writing and editorial skills in both English and French.
- Ability to produce accurate, concise communication materials under set deadlines.
