Senior Supervisor - Auto Electrical & Condition Monitoring

About the role

The Senior Supervisor will lead all auto‑electrical maintenance, troubleshooting and condition monitoring activities for a heavy mining equipment fleet and associated site infrastructure. The role combines technical leadership, safety governance and workforce development to ensure high equipment availability and a zero‑harm environment.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee daily, weekly and long‑term auto‑electrical maintenance, repairs and diagnostics for the fleet, workshops and field infrastructure.
• Apply preventative maintenance best practices and diagnostic techniques to minimise unplanned downtime.
• Coordinate with planning teams to execute scheduled work scopes, component replacements and major overhauls.
• Investigate electrical bottlenecks, component failures and hazards, delivering engineering solutions to improve reliability.
• Lead field repairs and workshop diagnostics, ensuring safety, quality and timely completion.
• Champion a zero‑harm safety culture, enforcing high‑voltage/low‑voltage isolation, lock‑out/tag‑out and arc‑flash protocols.
• Mentor and develop the national auto‑electrical workforce through structured training and succession planning.
• Utilise ERP and OEM diagnostic software to manage work orders, track failure trends and plan resources.

Required profile

• Minimum 10 years hands‑on experience maintaining electrical/electronic systems on heavy mining equipment (e.g., Caterpillar, Epiroc, Komatsu).
• At least 8 years supervisory experience leading auto‑electrical teams, preferably in open‑pit mining environments.
• Formal trade qualification, Red Seal or National Diploma in Auto Electrics, Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
• Proven record of national workforce training, coaching and succession planning.
• Valid driver’s licence and proficiency with Microsoft Office and CMMS (Pronto or SAP).

Required skills

• DC electrical circuits and high‑voltage auxiliary systems.
• CANbus networks and electronic control modules.
• Starter and alternator rebuilding, air‑conditioning systems on heavy earth‑moving assets.
• OEM diagnostic tools such as Cat ET.
• Microsoft Office Suite.
• Computerised Maintenance Management Systems (Pronto, SAP).
