Specialist Planning for Heavy Mobile Equipment

About the role

The Specialist Planning role supports the planning of preventive, corrective, condition‑based and major maintenance activities for the Heavy Mobile Equipment (HME) fleet on the Simandou project in Guinea. The position ensures work packages are of high quality, ready for execution, and aligned with safety and reliability standards.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and quality‑review detailed work packages for planned, corrective, campaign and major component maintenance, ensuring clear scope, labour estimates, parts, tooling, permits and safety controls.
• Lead planning readiness for major component replacements, shutdowns and fleet campaigns, coordinating resources, long‑lead items and contractor support.
• Maintain accurate equipment history and maintenance records in SAP or the applicable CMMS, and conduct backlog and work‑order quality reviews.
• Coach HME planners, transfer planning capability to Guinean national employees and support their development.

Required profile

• Trade qualification, technical diploma or bachelor degree in mechanical or maintenance engineering, or equivalent experience.
• Substantial maintenance planning experience supporting HME in mining, construction or heavy industry.
• Strong analytical, organisational and stakeholder‑management skills, with ability to interpret OEM manuals and engineering drawings.
• Fluency in English; French language capability is desirable.

Required skills

• Strong CMMS/ERP capability, preferably SAP PM or comparable system.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and maintenance reporting tools.
• Knowledge of HME maintenance practices, backlog management and planning‑to‑scheduling interfaces.
• Experience with heavy equipment brands such as Komatsu, Caterpillar, Liebherr, Hitachi, Sandvik or Epiroc is a plus.
