HSE Officer

About the role

The HSE Officer will support the Site Manager and HUB HSE Manager in implementing BIA Group’s health, safety and environment policies on a mining/construction site in Guinea. The role focuses on promoting a safe culture, ensuring regulatory compliance, and driving continuous improvement of the HSE management system.

Key responsibilities

• Promote a safe and healthy work environment and improve HSE culture.
• Maintain up‑to‑date hazard identification and risk assessments.
• Monitor compliance with local HSE regulations and internal standards.
• Support the development, implementation and monitoring of the annual HSE plan.
• Organise emergency drills and provide related training.
• Deliver HSE training, onboarding and monthly awareness sessions.
• Develop and review SOPs for high‑risk activities, manage PPE usage and tool/chemical identification.
• Conduct weekly HSE inspections, collect performance data and report indicators.
• Investigate incidents, accidents and non‑conformities, proposing corrective actions.
• Participate in periodic reviews to enhance the HSE management system.

Required profile

• Minimum 2 years experience in mining HSE.
• At least 3 years managerial experience on construction sites.
• Knowledge of ISO 45001 and ISO 9001 (ISO 14001 advantageous).
• Fluent English, both written and spoken.
• Experience with lifting inspection, complex slinging, and working at heights.
• Proficiency with mobile elevating work platforms.
• Understanding of welding hazards and risk assessment/SOP development.
