Lead Technician – Heavy Equipment (CAT ADT & Excavators)

About the role

Our client, an international mining and infrastructure operator in West Africa, is looking for an experienced Lead Technician to oversee a workshop team responsible for maintaining and rebuilding Caterpillar heavy equipment. The role is based on a remote mining site and combines hands‑on technical work with leadership of local technicians.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise and lead a team of workshop technicians.
• Plan, schedule and control maintenance and component rebuild activities for CAT 745 ADT trucks and CAT 390/395 excavators.
• Provide hands‑on support for major breakdowns and ensure repairs follow OEM procedures.
• Monitor spare‑parts usage, manage critical inventory and prepare technical reports.
• Enforce strict HSE standards in the workshop and on‑site activities.
• Coordinate with operations and maintenance planning teams to maximize equipment availability.
• Train and mentor local technicians to build technical capability.

Required profile

• 10+ years of experience in heavy equipment maintenance, preferably in a mining environment.
• Strong background with Caterpillar equipment, especially ADT trucks and large excavators.
• Proven experience as a Lead Technician, Team Leader or Supervisor.
• Technical qualification in heavy equipment or mechanical maintenance.
• Fluent in technical English; French is a plus.
