Director of Legal – Guinea

About the role

The Director, Legal – Guinea will lead the legal and company secretarial functions for AngloGold Ashanti’s operations in Guinea, reporting to the Vice President, Legal West Africa.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and develop the Guinea Legal department, building a high‑performance team.
• Design and implement business processes, including contract review systems, to ensure timely legal service delivery.
• Manage relationships with external legal providers, negotiate cost‑effective agreements and monitor service quality.
• Provide strategic legal oversight on company policies, labour management, contract negotiations, community relations, environmental compliance, health & safety, and mining operations.
• Advise senior management on emerging legal trends and regulatory changes, delivering training and updates.
• Draft, review and negotiate a wide range of contracts and legal documents to protect company interests.
• Support community and sustainability initiatives by reviewing land acquisition, compensation, human rights and social impact agreements.
• Guide the Human Resources department on labour law matters, employee relations, disciplinary procedures and internal investigations.
• Oversee company secretarial responsibilities.
