Principal Advisor – Mobile Equipment Maintenance (MEM)

About the role

The Principal Advisor – Mobile Equipment Maintenance (MEM) is the senior technical authority responsible for leading and coordinating maintenance activities across Heavy Mobile Equipment (HME) fleets. The role ensures safe, reliable, and efficient operation of equipment while supporting strategic business objectives.

Key responsibilities

• Support MEM senior leadership in managing maintenance teams for HME fleets.
• Lead technical investigations and troubleshoot major equipment failures.
• Develop and implement strategies to optimise performance, improve output, and reduce operating costs.
• Align maintenance standards with industry best practices and company policies.
• Analyse fleet performance data, benchmark against standards, and identify improvement opportunities.
• Facilitate root‑cause analysis and drive corrective and preventive actions.
• Monitor maintenance costs, contribute to budgeting, forecasting, and cost control.
• Provide technical leadership for haul trucks, excavators, loaders, graders, dozers, drills, water carts and ancillary mining equipment.
• Promote a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with environmental and regulatory requirements.
• Build relationships with equipment suppliers, external stakeholders and mining operations.
• Mentor and coach Superintendents and other technical staff.

Required profile

• Proven senior‑level experience in heavy mobile equipment maintenance and reliability.
• Strong technical authority with the ability to lead investigations and drive continuous improvement.
• Excellent analytical skills for fleet performance data and cost management.
• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with leadership, operations and external partners.
• Commitment to safety, environmental standards and inclusive workplace values.
