Production Supervisors - Simandou Mine (4 positions)

About the role

Rio Tinto is looking for four production supervisors for the Simandou iron ore mine in Canga, Guinea. The post covers the organisation, coordination and follow-up of production activities so that quality, quantity, cost and delivery targets are met while respecting safety rules and standards. The position is open only to Guinean candidates with a local employment contract.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and organise production activities according to defined objectives and supervise daily operations on the production lines
• Ensure manufacturing deadlines are met and optimise processes to improve productivity and reduce costs
• Lead and motivate a team of operators, including briefings and task allocation, and train, support and evaluate staff
• Manage schedules, absences and rotations, and promote a good working climate and internal communication
• Ensure products comply with quality standards, apply procedures and standards, and help resolve quality issues and continuous improvement
• Enforce hygiene, safety and environmental rules, identify risks and take preventive action
• Track performance indicators such as yield, scrap rate and productivity, analyse results, propose corrective actions and produce activity reports

Required profile

• University degree in production management, industrial engineering or equivalent
• Previous experience in an industrial setting, plus team management experience
• Good knowledge of production processes
• Strong organisational sense, proactive leadership and excellent communication skills, preferably bilingual French/English

• Continuous improvement tools such as Lean and 5S
• Production management systems such as ERP and GPAO
