Remote Medical Coder – Hospital Coding Specialist

About the role

We are looking for a meticulous Remote Medical Coder to join our healthcare team. The successful candidate will apply US or UK coding standards to complex patient records, ensuring accurate reimbursement and regulatory compliance.

Key responsibilities

• Review inpatient and outpatient records and assign appropriate ICD‑10, CPT, HCPCS, OPCS‑4 or SNOMED CT codes.
• Maintain compliance with federal, state, NHS or payer guidelines to support revenue cycle management.
• Identify documentation gaps, query clinicians, and resolve coding errors.
• Correct claim denials and optimize reimbursement.
• Participate in audits and uphold data integrity standards.
• Stay current with coding guideline updates and compliance regulations.

Required profile

• 3‑5 years of hospital coding experience (inpatient or outpatient) in the US or UK.
• Active certification from AAPC or AHIMA (CPC, CCS, CIC, COC) or equivalent UK credential.
• Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology and pharmacology.
• Proficiency with EHR systems such as Epic, Cerner, EMIS Web or SystmOne.
• Excellent attention to detail and pattern‑recognition skills.
• Reliable computer, high‑speed internet and backup power supply.
• Quiet, secure, HIPAA/GDPR‑compliant workspace.
