Material Manager – Guinea (FIFO)

About the role

The Material Manager will oversee all material‑related activities at the customer facility in Guinea, ensuring that locomotive maintenance has the right parts at the right time. This FIFO position operates on a 60‑day on / 15‑day off schedule and supports a 24/7, two‑shift operation.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain accurate material forecasts based on project schedules, repair plans and historical data.
• Oversee inventory control, set reorder points, safety stock levels and conduct regular audits and cycle counts.
• Manage day‑to‑day warehouse operations including receiving, storage, picking, packing and shipping.
• Coordinate logistics and customs clearance for material movement between Guinea, the USA, India and South Africa.
• Lead a team of Material Specialists, providing coaching, task assignment and performance feedback.
• Identify cost‑saving opportunities and drive process improvements across the supply chain.

Required profile

• Proven experience in material planning, inventory management and warehouse operations.
• Ability to lead and develop a team of material specialists.
• Familiarity with 24/7, shift‑based environments and FIFO deployment models.
• Strong collaboration skills with technical and project teams.

Required skills

• Oracle (MRP) system proficiency
