Mechanical Advisor

About the role

The Mechanical Advisor is a hands‑on subject‑matter expert responsible for leading field mechanical maintenance activities in a high‑throughput processing environment. You will ensure safe operation, drive equipment uptime, and support continuous improvement across the plant.

Key responsibilities

• Enforce safety protocols while leading a team of technicians to maximise equipment availability.
• Perform routine inspections, troubleshooting and repairs on static and rotary plant equipment such as crushers, conveyors, mills, screens and hydraulic systems.
• Develop, execute and optimise preventive‑maintenance (PM) schedules to minimise unplanned downtime and extend asset life.
• Analyse equipment malfunctions using technical manuals, schematics and diagnostic tools to identify root causes.
• Plan, schedule and lead plant shutdowns, major overhauls and new installations safely and efficiently.
• Manage inventory of mechanical spares, tools and consumables required for repairs.
• Promote a culture of safety, accountability and continuous improvement aligned with operational excellence.

Required profile

• Proven experience leading mechanical maintenance teams in an industrial or mining setting.
• Strong mentorship skills – able to develop supervisors and technicians.
• Demonstrated ability to design and deliver competency development programmes.
• Excellent knowledge of safety standards and performance‑driven maintenance practices.
• Effective communicator capable of conducting field performance evaluations and knowledge transfer.
