Mechanical Specialist

About the role

The Mechanical Specialist is a hands‑on subject‑matter expert responsible for diagnosing mechanical faults, executing preventive maintenance, and performing overhauls on heavy industrial processing equipment. The role aims to maximise plant uptime, safety and asset reliability.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise and mentor maintenance crews, building local capability and a safety‑first culture.
• Plan and execute preventive, predictive and corrective maintenance for all plant equipment, including shutdowns and major overhauls.
• Diagnose faults, conduct root‑cause analysis, and carry out detailed inspections, repairs and re‑assembly in line with OEM standards.
• Enforce HSE procedures, SOPs, LOTOTO, permits‑to‑work and regulatory compliance.
• Improve equipment performance through KPI tracking, reliability initiatives and modern maintenance strategies.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Maintenance or equivalent.
• 10–15 years of mechanical maintenance experience in mining, mineral processing or heavy‑industrial facilities.
• Proven experience with Rio Tinto iron‑ore operations is preferred.
