About the role

The American International School of Conakry is seeking a dynamic Pre‑Kindergarten Teacher for the 2027‑2028 academic year. The successful candidate will create a safe, nurturing, and inclusive environment that supports the holistic development of young learners.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and deliver a balanced Pre‑Kindergarten program covering early literacy, phonological awareness, mathematics, science, social studies, and social‑emotional learning.
• Incorporate play‑based, inquiry‑based, and child‑centered activities using music, art, movement, and hands‑on experiences.
• Establish age‑appropriate classroom routines, expectations, and positive behavior‑management strategies.
• Observe and document each child’s development, maintaining accurate records and portfolios.
• Communicate regularly with families about children’s progress and well‑being.
• Collaborate with staff to plan special projects, celebrations, and developmentally appropriate learning experiences.

Required profile

• U.S. or International Teaching License preferred; Guinean candidates preferred.
• Background, qualification, or relevant training in Early Childhood Education.
• Experience teaching Pre‑Kindergarten or young children is preferred.
• Fluency in written and spoken English; French fluency preferred.
• Previous experience living or working in West Africa is an advantage.
• Flexibility, creativity, patience, and a positive sense of humor.
