Senior Road Safety Campaigns & Vulnerable Users Expert

About the role

NTU International is seeking a senior expert to lead road safety awareness and behavioural change campaigns across the ECOWAS region. The role focuses on protecting vulnerable road users such as women, children, persons with disabilities, pedestrians and cyclists through inclusive communication strategies.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement road safety awareness campaigns and behavioural change initiatives.
• Provide technical assistance on communication strategies, public outreach programmes and stakeholder engagement.
• Integrate vulnerable‑user considerations into transport policies and road safety programmes.
• Advise on gender‑sensitive and inclusive approaches targeting women, youth, persons with disabilities, pedestrians, cyclists and other vulnerable groups.
• Develop communication materials, awareness tools and public information campaigns.
• Contribute to road safety studies, analytical reports and policy recommendations.
• Coordinate with transport authorities, civil society organisations, educational institutions, media actors and development partners.
• Support road safety education, community engagement and advocacy initiatives.
• Deliver workshops, consultations and capacity‑building activities on road safety communication.
• Monitor, report and evaluate the impact of awareness campaigns and outreach activities.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in communications, public health, social sciences, transport safety, behavioural sciences or a related field.
• Minimum 10 years of professional experience in road safety campaigns, public awareness programmes or social inclusion projects.
• Proven experience working on transport, road safety or social development projects in developing countries, preferably in Sub‑Saharan Africa.
• Experience in international development cooperation and donor‑funded programmes.
