Technical Field Service & Advising Specialist (FIFO)

About the role

The Technical Advisor provides on‑site locomotive technical support to Wabtec subcontracted maintenance staff on the customer rail network in Guinea, working on a FIFO schedule (60 days on, 15 days off). The role ensures safe, timely servicing and drives performance improvements.

Key responsibilities

• Execute planned and unplanned maintenance, troubleshooting, failure analysis and field modification oversight.
• Provide training and assistance to customers and subcontractors on product maintenance and repair according to Wabtec Maintenance Instructions.
• Track material and consumable usage, update the Maintenance Management System, and forecast needs.
• Collaborate with Reliability Engineers and other stakeholders to improve locomotive KPI performance.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of customer‑facing locomotive service experience on Wabtec locomotives.
• Strong leadership, interpersonal skills and ability to work with diverse internal and external stakeholders.
• Fluent in English, French or Mandarin.
• Willingness to work in a shop environment on rotating shifts.

Required skills

• L1 Locomotive Technical Training certification.
• Lean/Six Sigma methodology knowledge.
