Deputy Fleet Manager - Mining Equipment

About the role

BIA Group, which sells, rents and provides after-sales services for equipment used in public works, mines, quarries and transport, is looking for a Deputy Fleet Manager attached to a mine site in Guinea. The role ensures good working performance and conditions of the fleet of equipment carrying out BIA's maintenance policy and procedures.

Key responsibilities

• HSE: hold regular toolbox talks, update risk assessments and create accurate standard operating procedures, ensure staff wear PPE and use the right tools, define HSE training needs and report to the Fleet Manager
• Operations: carry out over-inspections, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting and repairs on contracted mining equipment (SLA or RAMP), coordinate supervisors and their teams and report technical data up the hierarchy
• People management: run the performance management process, coach team members on technical and soft skills and give clear instructions
• Reporting: follow the functional hierarchy, immediately report defective tooling and support equipment, complete accurate end-of-shift handovers and work orders, record machine hours per shift and compile reports as required

Required profile

• Minimum 3 years of experience in mining (or at least construction)
• Minimum 5 years of experience in a supervisor position
• French; English is ideal with good knowledge of the second language
