Superintendent MPP Operations

About the role

The Superintendent MPP Operations leads the end‑to‑end processing workflow—from crushing through stockyard operations to train load‑out—ensuring safe, efficient and reliable performance while targeting optimal cost per tonnage. The role also creates operational readiness plans, standard operating procedures and competency‑based training programs to build team capability and meet Rio Tinto operational standards.

Key responsibilities

• Embed safety as the highest priority across all operational and contractor activities.
• Develop and apply Rio Tinto Iron Ore group policies, processes and procedures, adapting them for Simfer where needed.
• Monitor and report key performance indicators such as Gross Load Rates, Net Load Rates and reclaim rates, providing preventive solutions.
• Coordinate crushing, stacking, reclaiming and re‑handle movements using fixed and heavy mobile equipment in line with world‑class bulk handling standards.
• Respond to emergency situations using established procedures.
• Drive continuous‑improvement initiatives to enhance safety, productivity and cost efficiency.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant business processes, SOPs, SWPs and JHAs.
• Manage contractor performance and safety compliance.

Required profile

• Proven experience leading large‑scale bulk handling or mining processing operations.
• Strong commitment to safety, accountability and continuous improvement.
• Ability to develop and implement SOPs, training programs and operational policies.
• Experience monitoring KPIs and delivering performance reports to senior management.
• Leadership skills to manage multidisciplinary teams and contractors.
