Production Specialist

About the role

The Production Specialist ensures the safe execution of daily mining operations, meeting production targets while maintaining operational efficiency and workforce productivity. This role is heavily focused on training, upskilling and mentoring national supervisors, bridging planning and execution on a FIFO site.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise drilling, blasting, loading, hauling and dumping activities.
• Ensure alignment with short‑term mine plans and production schedules.
• Coordinate shift activities and manage smooth handovers between crews.
• Lead, coach and develop multidisciplinary teams of operators, contractors and technicians.
• Conduct pre‑start safety meetings and daily briefings.
• Manage workforce discipline, attendance and performance.
• Monitor production rates, cycle times and equipment utilisation.
• Identify bottlenecks and implement corrective actions.
• Optimise loading and hauling efficiency.
• Enforce safety standards and ensure compliance with HSE procedures.
• Promote a strong safety culture and intervene in unsafe behaviours.
• Participate in incident investigations and improvement initiatives.
• Allocate equipment and personnel to meet operational priorities.
• Coordinate with maintenance teams to minimise downtime.
• Ensure availability of consumables and operational resources.
• Achieve daily/weekly production targets (tonnage, BCM, ore delivery).
• Track equipment utilisation, cost per tonne mined and safety indicators.

Required profile

• Diploma or degree in Mining Engineering or a related field (desirable).
• 5+ years of operational experience with supervisory exposure.
• Strong understanding of fleet management systems and production cycles.
• Proven leadership experience in a mining environment.
• Willingness to work on a 4‑weeks‑on / 2‑weeks‑off FIFO roster.
